Apps, Agents & Anxiety

I was invited by Steve Mordue to have a chat on his new series “Steve is Artificially Intelligent”. Now, Episode One is online:

We explored how Microsoft’s Copilot strategy is reshaping the role of apps, the promise (and risks) of citizen-built agents, and what the evolving AI landscape means for consultants, partners, and customers alike.

While Steve approaches the topic with strong optimism, I offered a more sceptical perspective. Especially when it comes to the sustainability of current AI business models and the realities of deploying agents in real-world environments.

The discussion covers:

  • The tension between apps and AI-first user interfaces

  • OpenAI’s role in Microsoft’s AI momentum

  • Why Copilot Studio may repeat patterns seen with Canvas apps

  • How partners should rethink their value-add in the age of automation
